GLOSSARY

The Three Realms – The world was split into three realms; Tian, Di, and DiYu.

Tian – Heavens, sky, Realm of the Gods

Di – Earth, ground, Realm of the Living, Mortal Realm

DiYu – Underworld, earth prison, Realm of the Dead

Qinggong – Light skill; a lost martial arts technique. Practitioners were said to move at preternatural speeds and, possibly, even fly.

Yinyang – Yin and yang. Dual forces that exist in all things in the known universe. Yin is feminine, dark, death, the moon. Yang is masculine, light, life, the sun. The two complement each other and provide balance to the universe.

Qi – Energy, power. All living things are made of qi. Everything in the known universe is capable of absorbing and storing qi for cultivation.

Meridian Points – Network of pathways through which qi flows through the body.

Baba – Dad, daddy. Informal form of address for “fuqin/father.”

Jiemei – Sisters, sisterhood.

Jiejie – Older sister. A form of address and honorific that’s used both literally (sister, cousin) and figuratively (friend, acquaintance, anyone identifying as female and older than the speaker.)

Meimei – Younger sister. A term of address and honorific that’s used both literally (sister, cousin) and figuratively (friend, acquaintance, anyone identifying as female and younger than the speaker.)
